Adult Film Star Dakota Skye Found Dead in RV at 27

Born Lauren Kaye Scott in Concoston, Ohio, Dakota grew up in Florida in a large blended family, with seven siblings between her parents’ remarriages. She eventually moved to Los Angeles, where she made her name in the adult film industry.

On the night of June 8, 2021, Dakota’s behavior raised alarm among friends and coworkers. She reportedly told people that “the FBI and the Mafia were after her” and said she planned to become a Hells Angel biker. Despite calling around, no one offered her a place to stay. Alone, she walked from the San Fernando Valley to Los Angeles’ Skid Row — a stretch known for its homelessness crisis.

In the early hours of June 9, Dakota asked a stranger if she could rest inside his RV. Witnesses saw her smoking something before she lay down on the man’s couch. Not long after, she was found dead inside the RV at 652 Moulton Avenue.

The next day, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed her identity. While official records listed her as homeless, Rolling Stone reported she had been living with her boyfriend in Woodland Hills. Her husband ultimately identified her body.

An autopsy was conducted on June 10. The report later revealed Dakota died accidentally from “acute multidrug intoxication.” Multiple substances were found in her system, including amphetamine, benzodiazepines, cocaine metabolite, fentanyl, MDMA, methamphetamine, and phencyclidine (PCP).

Dakota’s death highlighted not just the challenges of life in the adult film industry, but also the personal battles she faced with addiction and mental health.
