Baron, botanist, mineralogist geologist, and arctic explorer who was a member of the famous Nordenskiöld family. He is best known for leading the Vega expedition along the northern coast of Eurasia, which was the first complete crossing of the Northeast Passage.

He attended the University of Helsinki.
