Classical pianist known for his mastery of many famous performers, including Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, and Franz Schubert.

He studied at the Zurich Conservatory with Emil Frey and Volkmar Andreae, followed by two years with Artur Schnabel in Berlin.

He performed and recorded Othmar Schoeck, Arthur Honegger, Heinrich Sutermeister, and Walter Lang.

His father Carl Aeschbacher was a professor of piano at the Conservatoire.

He was also well-known for his interpretations of Ludwig van Beethoven’s oeuvre.
