Emmy Award winning director and for his coverage of the 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics and 7 time Emmy winner for his work covering football, basketball, and other special programs. He may be best known as the director of ABC’s Wide World of Sports.
He was a film and television director during the 1970s including directing episodes of Kojak and The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. He even directed several B-movies later in his career.
He was considered a sports pioneer including his contribution of the term “honey shot” which referred to close-ups of cheerleaders and pretty girls in the audience.
He was married to Arlene Sidaris with whom he worked with on the films he directed.
