Famous for co-creating DC Comics’ Batman character with artist Bob Kane, he also made major contributions to the development of Green Lantern. He was not recognized for his work until after his death but was awarded posthumous membership in both the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame.
Raised in both Denver, Colorado and New York, New York, he grew up with sisters named Gilda and Emily and was the son of Tessie Finger and the Austrian-born Louis Finger. With his first wife, Portia, Bill Finger had a son named Fred; his second marriage was to Lyn Simmons.
