American jazz and ragtime singer who was well-known on the vaudeville circuit. She was called the “Queen of Syncopation.”
She recorded “Some of These Days” in 1910, one year before it was popularized by Sophie Tucker. She continued to have a successful recording career throughout the 1920s.
She had an extremely popular vaudeville act with Benny Fields, whom she later married.
