Remembered for her FAMAS Award-winning performances in the Filipino movies Don’t Cry for Me, Papa (1984), Igorota (1969), Angustia (1964), Emily (1961) and Kundiman Ng Lahi (1960), she is also well known for her Gawad Urian Award-winning work in the films Karnal (1984), Kisapmata (1982) and Ina, Kapatid, Anak (1980).
Born Rosario Violeta Solís Hernandez, she spent her early days in Manila, Philippines. Her uncle, F. H. Constantino, had a successful career as a director and facilitated her early entry into the film industry.
