The actress seems to have developed a drinking problem after 9/11 as a result of losing her husband.

In 2005 Scott relocated from New York to Florida to live with her sister but was hospitalized shortly after her arrival. She fell into a coma.

On April 5, 2005, three days after her 52nd birthday and being released from the hospital, she took a nap and apparently died in her sleep.

Her fiancé’s mother stated that Scott had a drinking problem that led to her developing cirrhosis, which led to her death. Her sister Jerri commented on her sister’s affliction, explaining that “she never did get over Dennis’ death”.
