Pulitzer prize-winning American journalist who covered World War II and the Korean War for the Associated Press.

He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1928.

He won two Pulitzer Prize awards: the first in 1951 for International Reporting, and the second in 1953 for National Reporting.

He had a daughter with his wife Marie Patterson, whom he married in 1928.

He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1953 for an article about Dwight Eisenhower’s security detail when he was en route to Korea in 1952.
