African-American poet and publisher whose works include “The Ballad of Birmingham” and “Booker T. and W.E.B.” He is also known for “A Poet is Not a Jukebox” and “The Profile on the Pillow.”
He was married three times: to Ruby Hudson, Mildred Pinckney, and finally, Vivian Spencer.
Randall died of congestive heart failure on Aug. 5, 2000. He was 86.
