He learned music from family members and then at the college of music in Bulawayo.
He is known for introducing Zimbabwean music to North America, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
His parents raised him in Mutare, Rhodesia.
He taught at Evergeen State College, where white rapper Macklemore studied.
