She was married to actor Joel McCrea. The two co-starred in four films and stayed together for more than 50 years.
In 2004, Frances Dee McCrea died in Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut due to complications from a stroke at the age of 94. She had been visiting her son, Peter McCrea, in Westport, Conn. He said Monday that she suffered a stroke, fell and broke her leg and died of pneumonia.
