Pitcher nicknamed “The Kitten” who won the 1960 World Series as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He made three straight All-Star games as well as three straight Gold Glove Awards during his illustrious career.

He made his MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1952.

In a May 1959 game against the Milwaukee Braves, he set a major league record for most consecutive batters retired in a single game with 36. Amazingly, he and the Pirates still lost the game.
