A Bangladeshi writer, playwright, and screenwriter, he is best known for literary works such as Nondito Noroke (In Blissful Hell) and The Story of a Mother and a Moonlit Night. He also wrote numerous screenplays, including that of the popular 2012 film, Ghetuputra Kamola.
He married Meher Afroz Shaon in 2005, after ending a thirty-year marriage to Gultekin Ahmed in 2003. His first marriage produced one son (Nuhash) and three daughters (Sheela, Nova, and Bipasha). With his second wife, he had two more sons (Ninit and Nishad).
