American criminal and sex trafficker who died under suspicious circumstances while in prison in August 2019. He posed as a financier and science philanthropist who started out at Bear Stearns and then allegedly founded his own financial management firms. He was convicted of several sex crimes in 2008, and was about to stand trial for more crimes in 2019 when he died.
He grew up in Brooklyn with his parents and brother Mark. He had several long-term girlfriends, including heiress Ghislaine Maxwell, who was widely known to be complicit in his sex trafficking ring.
