Famous for his works Dance, Family, Andrea, and Gathering, this 20th-century American artist is perhaps best known for his nude sculptures. Over the course of his artistic career, he taught at both the Illinois Institute of Technology and Arizona State University.
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, he spent his late childhood and teenage years in Evansville, Indiana. His two marriages — the second of which was to Ruth Holland — produced a total of six children.
