Best remembered for her appearances in Star Trek: The Next Generation,  and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, she also played the voice of the spaceship computer in all three of these series, as well as in Star Trek: Voyager.

She married Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry in 1969; the couple welcomed a son, producer Rod Roddenberry, in 1974.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Majel Barrett Roddenberry, an actress who was the widow of the “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry but who is probably best remembered as Nurse Chapel in the original “Star Trek” series, died Thursday at her home in Bel-Air. She was 76. The cause was leukemia, a family spokesman, Sean Rossall, said.
