How did Marcus Aurelius die?

After a brief stationing on the Danube frontier, Aelius returned to Rome to make an address to the Senate on the first day of 138. However, the night before the scheduled speech, he grew ill and died of a hemorrhage later in the day. Coin (AD 136–138) of Hadrian (obverse) and his adoptive son, Lucius Aelius (reverse).
