Drummer for the 1960s folk rock band The Byrds during the height of their popularity, from 1964 to 1967.
He was supposedly discovered by David Crosby playing bongos on the beach; he had little formal musical training and none on drums.
He grew distant from the group in 1967 over creative differences and was soon after fired from The Byrds.
How did Michael Clarke die?
Duncan was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center after suffering a heart attack on July 13, 2012. By August 6, he had been moved from the intensive care unit but remained hospitalized. On September 3, Duncan died in the hospital of respiratory failure. He was 54.
