Jazz artist best known for his contributions to the Moscow Art Trio. He released several works on ECM Records.
He founded one of Moldavia’s first jazz ensembles in 1980.
He became professor of music at the Norwegian Academy of Music in the nineties, teaching such notables as Helge Lien and Morten Qvenild.
His parents gave birth to him in Kamenez Podolsky, Ukraine, but they raised him in Moldavia.
He and pianist Vladimir Horowitz were both born in the Ukraine.
