In 2001, Davis’s breast cancer spread (metastasized) and left her incapacitated. The following year she made her final performance at the Grand Ole Opry, she sang The End of the World. On September 19, 2004, David died of breast cancer in Nashville, Tennesse, in a hospice. The singer reached the age of 72.
