He married an organist named Shirley Scott in 1960 and they divorced about a decade later.
Stanley Turrentine died on Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He was 66 and lived in Fort Washington, Md. The cause was a stroke, said Robin Burgess, his agent.
