Governor of Georgia from 1780 to 1781 who fought in the French and Indian War, along with the American Revolutionary War.
He was a soldier and he was raised in Hanover County, Virginia.
Due to his prominent war efforts Georgia’s General Assembly named Heard County, Georgia after him.
