On 16 June 1977, he recorded a half-hour interview talking about his life, which was broadcast on 25 July 1977. This was repeated on Radio 4 Extra’s It’s a Funny Business series on 3 November 2013. On 8 November 1977, he suffered a fatal heart attack.
