Biography - A Short Wiki
Irish folk musician known for his work in the seminal Irish band The Clancy Brothers. He is sometimes referred to as The Bard of Armagh.
His father Peter played bass drum in a band called Oliver Plunkett.
The cause was complications of lung cancer, his son Conor said. Mr. Makem’s music emerged in the 1960s as part of the rise of modern folk music, and its sound and success particularly buoyed Irish-Americans who remembered the sting of prejudice toward immigrant ancestors.
