Dancer who appeared in several movie musicals, including On the Town (1949) with Gene Kelly and the 1954 production of White Christmas with Danny Kaye.

She married and divorced Victor Rothschild (m. 1954–1966) and Robert Hightower (m. 1941–1946). Her second marriage resulted in a child who tragically died at three months of sudden infant death syndrome.

Vera-Ellen died of ovarian cancer at The University of California Los Angeles Medical Center on August 30, 1981. She was 60 years old.
