Pop artist who painted Americana-style, nostalgic objects such as pastries, boots, ice cream cones, toilets, toys, and lipstick.
He was born in Mesa, Arizona and raised in Long Beach, California. He had two children with his first wife, Patricia Patterson, and a son named Paul with his second wife, Betty Jean Carr.
How did Wayne Thiebaud die?
In 1947, Thiebaud took advantage of the GI bill to train as an art teacher, first in San Jose and then in Sacramento. Realising that teaching would not provide for his growing family, he took a job in the advertising department of the Rexall Drug Company, where he met a commercial artist called Robert Mallary.
