During the 1950s, she performed in Broadway productions of The Pajama Game, Picnic, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Also a well known screen actress, she made numerous appearances on The Tab Hunter Show, The Red Skelton Hour, The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, and Oh, Those Bells, among other popular shows.

Before ending in divorce, her marriage to fellow actor William Forester produced a daughter named Kathryn Anne Forester.
